We are not offering unlimited remakes, and this is not an online version of our fully bespoke service. What we stand behind depends on who decided the fit.
When you choose your own finished fit
This covers Select a Standard Size, Adapt a Standard Size and Measure a Shirt You Own. In each of these you either pick published finished measurements or give us the finished measurements yourself.
If we make your shirt to that confirmed specification, within our production tolerances, we have made the fit you instructed us to make. If you later decide the sleeves would be nicer half an inch shorter, or the waist could use another inch, we record those changes and apply them to your next shirt. That is refining your pattern, and it is not an automatic free remake.
When you ask us to interpret your fit
This covers Use Your Body Measurements and Send Us a Shirt to Measure. Here you have asked us to judge the finished shirt rather than specifying it completely yourself.
For your first shirt on that newly established fit, if the result needs meaningful correction, you get a one-time First Fit Remake. One remake, on that pattern. It is not an open-ended satisfaction programme.
How a remake is agreed
Being eligible for the First Fit Promise does not mean a second shirt is issued automatically. You contact us, we discuss the fit together, and we agree the specific dimensional corrections needed.
A free First Fit Remake is only authorised once the original shirt has been returned to us. We assess the shirt against the specification you confirmed, and the remake is authorised from there.
If you would like to keep the original shirt as well, please just ask — that is a conversation with us rather than part of this promise.
What the remake changes
It is a fit correction only. The remake keeps the same cloth, collar, cuff, front, pockets, back, buttons, thread and buttonhole choices, monogram, contrast cloth and contrast placement — the same design throughout. What changes is the dimensions, for example sleeve +0.5″, collar +0.5″, chest +1″, waist +1″ or shirt length −0.5″.
It is not an opportunity to change the collar or cuff style, alter cuff depth or collar points, move or resize a monogram, choose different buttons, pick another cloth, or change contrast choices. Those are design preferences rather than fit corrections, and they belong on a new shirt.
Once the corrected dimensions are agreed they become your saved pattern for future orders.
If we made a mistake
If we produced something other than the order you confirmed, that is a production fault and not a question of fit preference. We correct it, and it does not use up your First Fit Remake. Your statutory rights are unaffected — see our cancellations, returns and faults policy.
