Choosing Your Size and Pattern

Your first SHIRTMKR shirt

Every Design Your Own shirt is cut to your own pattern. There is no pattern fee and no setup fee — the pattern is part of the shirt, not an extra.

We will guide you through the measurements we need, step by step, and check anything that looks unusual before your shirt is cut.

Your own measurements

Give us your measurements and choose the fit you prefer. We calculate a shirt pattern from them, and it is saved to your account for every shirt after.

Or work from a shirt you already own

Measure a shirt you already own. Measure a shirt you already enjoy wearing and enter those finished garment measurements. We use them to create a reusable pattern.

Send us your shirt to measure. If you would rather not measure it yourself, send it to us. We will measure it professionally and create your pattern from the garment. Your own shirt is returned with your completed order.

After your first shirt

Once SHIRTMKR has a pattern for you, ordering gets simpler. These are not new starting points. They are ways to build on what we already know.

Use a saved pattern

Choose a pattern already stored in your account and use it again. Change the cloth. Change the design. Keep the fit.

Included

Amend a saved pattern

Sometimes the next shirt tells us that something should be refined. Change a saved pattern before you order again, without starting from the beginning.

The previous version stays in your order history, and the revised pattern becomes the one we work from next.

Included

Create another pattern

A genuinely different fit — a looser shirt for weekends, or a pattern for a different purpose. A new pattern starts again from measurements rather than from a fit we already know, which is why it is kept separate from an amendment.

Included

Which should I choose?

For your first shirt, use your own measurements. If you already own a shirt that fits the way you want, measure that instead, or send it to us.

After that, use the pattern we already have. Amend it if something should change. Start another only when you want a genuinely different fit.

The first shirt establishes the starting point. The next one benefits from what we have learned.
